Two minor girls rescued from trafficking (June 2009)

The police at Shevgaon taluka have arrested the brothel keeper Meena Musavat and her son Pradeep under PITA on charges of trafficking two girls and forcing them to prostitution. Mr. Prakash Savedkar and Mr. Yashwant Kurapatti of Snehalaya played important role in the exposing the racket.

The girls from Ambajogai (Dist. Beed) was lured and then sold to Meena Muswat for Rs. One Lac by the accused Madhukar Mache.  The brothel keeper and her son forced the girls in flesh trade, the girls told in their complaint lodged with the police.  All the three accused have been remanded to police custody till 3rd June.

At first the girls had denied of any such acts of atrocities on her but when Snehalaya activists assured her safety and protection, she revealed the facts at A'nagar and the D.S.P. Ashok Dongare ordered to register the case against the accused brothel keeper, her son and the agent.  The local police at first tried to evade the responsibility and suppress the matter.  Snehalaya activists this time were more alert and overcame all the hurdles by the persons having vested interests and compelled the authorities to file case under PITA.

According to the complaint the girls was forced to prostitution from Oct 08 at Jamkhed and afterwards at Shevgaon.  They were also threatened to kill and were forced to sign a false affidavit.
