Lata Pawar was a legend, she came out of prostitution and became the member of Snehalaya, she was one of the success stories of Snehalaya. She learnt to speak to the Govt. officials, Ministers and visitors of Snehalaya. She has also written her autobiography entitled " Me Rand". She has described her experiences of her life. Mrs. Lata Pawar worked hard for the community ( Sex workers) in Ahmedangar district with Snehalaya.
She became respected by the society. She was the president of 'Shabdgandh Sahitya Sammelana', in Ahmednagar.
She was in Snehalaya's rehabilitation centre in her last days, because she willed to live with the children of Snehalaya in her last days. Mrs. Lata Pawar really became a role model for the women in red light areas and other society also.
The funeral took place here today noon at Amar Dham. Many notable personalities and about 500 sex workers from the district paid homage to the departed soul. Many of them also expressed condolence over the sad demise of the Social worker.
