Glory is brought to Snehalaya 16 years ago. She took further vocational education of home science etc. through "Chaitanya Mahila Mandal ",Pune. The groom Santosh Mangilal Kothari is working as a Sales head in "KOHINOOR", a famous clothing shop in Amednagar.

Second girl is Rekha. She is expert in tailoring and house work. Her groom Premkumar Dhananjay Behera is working in "Cummins Generator Technologies"

Snehalaya’s grassroot initiatives gave a new dimension to social work

Ahmednagar, 10^th July.

'In the post independence period, the  basic problems of the common people  have became severe. Snehalaya dared to find solutions to few intense  problems related  with women and children without  waiting and asking for any government aid. The solutions were based on  the participation & help of common people.  These  grass root social initiatives of Snehalaya will be the foundation of selfless work culture in India in the near future; commented  Mr Anil Rathod, MLA, Ahmednagar. He  emphasized that work done by Snehalaya in the last 26 years has given a new & promising identity to Ahmednagar.

A new rehabilitation centre with all basic amenities will be built in collaboration with JKN Metals in Snehalaya’s Himmatgram. This will be a special residential facility for HIV positive patients & for the children above 18 years of age who are not eligible for stay in childcare homes .The foundation stone for this centre was laid on the auspicious day of ‘Ashadhi Ekadashi’. This centre will be built on the land situated at Isalak, opposite Himmatgram. The foundation was laid by eminent personalities like Mr.Anil Rathod (MLA), Dr.Ujwal Bhatacharjee (Director HR, JKN Metal) & Mr.Rahul Kale (Plant Manager, JKN Metal, Ahmednagar). Many eminent personalities like Mr. Sangram Kadam (JKN Metal’s CSR co-ordinator), Mr.Devendra Akolkar, Mr.Subhash Kabadi, Shrimati. Anshu Gupta, Mr.Milind Jape (Head, Ahmednagar Workers Association), B.A. Nirmal, V.N.Mache, Sanjay Gerange (Sarpanch, Village Isalak), Manda Pol (Trustee, Snehalaya), Feroz Tambatkar, Billi Nagarwala, were present on this occasion.

In his speech, Mr. Anil Rathod said, “In Snehalaya, people of different caste & religion leave their personal interests & politics aside to work sincerely for the betterment of the society. This results in a healthy social atmosphere in Nagar. Snehalaya has succeeded in changing the view of the society towards poor families, children & women living in slums & women facing atrocities. It has also created awareness in these members of the society to understand their problems more clearly. Snehalaya has made a unique contribution in the progress of Ahmednagar.”

Dr. Bhattacharjee informed that JKN Group of industries has always lent a helping hand to many social causes in the last 250 years.

On the occasion of 72nd birthday of Solicitor Gulabrao Shelke on 21st Jun, 2014 group visited to Snehalaya. They distributed educational material among Snehalaya children and  Visit to Himmatgram Project which running for HIV/AIDS positive patients and their Rehabilitation.

Anna Hazare celebrated his 76th birthday in Snehalaya’s Himmatgram Project.

On June 15, 2014, Anna Hazare celebrated his 76^th birthday in Snehalaya’s

Himmatgram Project. On the occasion of Annaji’s birthday various programmes ware organized by Snehalaya including 1 thousand tree plantation and blood donation camp was organized. Nearly 200 peoples were participated in blood donation camp. Another one programme as Youth Camp organized by Snehalaya’s YuvaNirman Project and 55 youth were actively participated within the camp.
 
On the occasion of Hon. Anna Hazare’s birthday he given the message that “There is need to team work and discipline for nation building”.

Emergency Appeal !!

Dear friends,

A series of heart-rending events and poignant experiences resulted in the conceptualization of Snehalaya’s most ambitious project – Himmatgram Project in a 25-acre plot at Islak village near Ahmednagar M.I.D.C. for the eventual reintegration of families of People Living with HIV/AIDS i.e. PLHA as well as rehabilitating Victims of Commercial Sexual Exploitation & Trafficking i.e. VCSET, into the main-stream of society. Himmatgram will be a modern township comprising of, to begin with - a Rehab. Colony for at least 400 people, a multi-religion place of worship, a meditation center, vocational training facilities, agricultural activities (including horticulture, floriculture, vermiculture), dairy farming, de-addiction programs etc.  This unique pioneering concept will blaze a new trail and be a role model for others in this field. It is foreseen to be a source of inspiration world-wide to people fighting AIDS and battling atrocities on women.

New construction at Himmatgram still proceeds in hiccups subject to receipt of additional funds, power cuts  etc.  Yet some undaunted families of PLHA, rehabillitating sex-workers, and other volunteers already live at Himmatgram and are

involved in agriculture activities and dairy farming. Fruit orchards, vegetable fields, cattle-fodder plots have been created along with 1500 “Neera” palm trees plantation. A plastic-lined water reservoir with capacity approximately 18 million litres has been constructed. The plastic liner is being installed.  A 2070 sq.m. polyhouse has been constructed and vegetable and Azolla cultivation has begun. A plant nursery in the green-house is already operational. A half acre polyhouse produces leafy as well as exotic vegetables.

Unfortunately, during the last week the unseasonal rain-fall, strong whirlwinds and

disastrous hailstorms have completely destroyed the green-house, severely damaged the polyhouse, ruined the Azolla beds, blown away the vermicompost shed and also caused extensive damage to crucial components like water tank, reservoir liner. We urgently need  Rs. 6 lakhs to recover from the ravages of nature, overcome the setback and to move forward again. We seek your generous donations to get the project back on track. Presently there are no donors/sponsors specifically for the Himmatgram project. You now have a uniqe opportunity to get directly involved with some of the most neglected sections of society viz. VCSET and their children. All donations to Snehalaya are exempt from income tax under section 80G. We provide receipts and maintain accounts for every rupee we receive and utilize. You may also donate your time, skills, and anything at all that you can spare. In this bleak time, Snehalaya counts on your support – now more than ever.
