The A.G.M. has selected new
"Team Snehalaya"
Dear friends and well-wishers,
Greetings from Snehalaya family!
Snehalaya had its Annual General Meeting today. Mr. Suvalal Shingavi presided the meeting. Along with routine formal subjects of consenting the resolutions- expenses of the past year, we had serious discussions on Snehalaya's short and long-term plans. 163 members were present and all have participated and shared their views during the meeting.
The detailed annual report of Snehalaya was given to all for observation.
Mr. Milind Kulkarni welcomed all and presented changing challenges in front of Snehalaya. Ambadas Chauvan had presented the work and analyzed Snehalaya's success and failure with lot of data sharing. Anil Gawade had given the details of finance, income, and expenditure and explained the status of audit.
Mr. Rajeev Gujar, secretary, had introduced a new work structure. He said, "This new work model was necessary as Snehalaya has grown up in scale and society expects more in quality outputs. Hence for increasing efficiency of the organization, clarity about responsibilities and fixing the accountability is necessary. This was designed by Hon. Prakash Apte, Snehalaya's chief advisor, after a deep study and series of discussions with 'team Snehalaya.' The new structure will be executed from 1 st of April, Mr. Gujar said.

Mr. Rajendra Shukre introduced various resolutions. Creating our own publication section and increasing the number of trustees up to 15 from 13, were some of the proposed resolutions. They were unanimously consented. Mr. Sanjay Bandishti had presented the whole data of policies and decisions taken in last year. Mr. Sunil Jindal and Pallavi Jindal, were present at the meeting as the representatives of the adoptive parents of Snehankur Adoption Center. They both have shared their heart-touching experience with Snehankur and gave some important suggestions.
New "Team Snehalaya"
Electing a new board of trustees and selecting advisories for the period of 2013 to 2018 was one of the major agenda items of this AGM.
Dr. Girish Kulkarni, founder of Snehalaya, briefed about the past process of electing trustees for Snehalaya. Though the formal process of electing trustees is mentioned in the constitution of Snehalaya, the institution has a Gandhian tradition of electing trustees, patrons & advisories 'unanimously' and not by 'majority' since last 25th years. It's an unwritten ethic that the trustees should hold a post maximum 10 years. They must find and groom the new generation of trustees and hand over the position to worthy new successors and continue the work as a patron-volunteer. Also it's a tradition that old trustees should propose the names of new trustees preferably from a different caste and religion than him/her. It avoids the branding and maintains the spirit of trusteeship within the institution. In Snehalaya, 'Jeevanvrati -volunteer' is considered as a highest post. When a person becomes a trustee, his responsibility increases. But the rights are equal to all who are selflessly working together in Snehalaya. Respect is based on sacrifice and contribution in respect of time-skills- means. Snehalaya has tried to increase the participation of the prostitutes, beneficiary class, and past students step-by-step. Snehalaya's ultimate aim is to empower the beneficiaries to shoulder the total responsibilities of the process which we have initiated by establishing the institution. This approach strengthens the moral base of the institution and purity of work.
After explaining this background, Dr. Girish Kulkarni proposed the new "team Snehalaya." After the presentation, it was asked if anyone wished to raise any objections about any of the proposed members on any valid ground. When all had raised finger of consent, the new team got a formal legal sanction. Presenting below the "New Team Snehalaya." Mr. Sanjay Gugale, new president, offered a vote of thanks to the members who came from Pune, Mumbai, Belgaum, Aurangabad, Ahmednagar, etc.
